Five Changes for Apple to Make A Cheaper iPhone

The iPhone needs to cost less for it to become a true global tool that is carried in everyone's pocket. Here are five ways the iPhone could shed features and hardware to become cheaper.

1. No Wifi. It wastes the battery, and wifi signals are still not widely available enough to be useful for most people.

2. No Bluetooth. Common phone users will easily get by without the luxury wireless headset. When my grandma hears the word Bluetooth, she's thinking blueberry pie-stained teeth, not wireless tech.

3. No Camera. The iPhone's camera is only 2 megapixels. For the sake of a cheaper iPhone, it would be not be missed.

4. No Accelerometer. There's no need to watch movies in widescreen on a screen this size. No need for the luxury of widescreen cover flow, normal cover flow works the same. No need for viewing pictures in widescreen. How much will people use landscape mode in the iPhone anyways?

5. Make Everything Except the Screen Smaller. Look at all the space to the right and left of the home button. Now ask yourself, does the Home button need to be on the front of the phone? What if they moved it to the side? However, do not shrink that screen, we want all the real estate we can get. How cool would a device that is almost all glass be anyways? It'd be like a miniature HDTV.

  1. 1. Your information is completely incorrect and you clearly are not fit to run any website.

    2. Wifi drains the battery - internet use on the iphone last 6 hours. Thats really freaken good for a CELL PHONE!

(show me a laptop or another cell phone with wifi, edge, and 3G that have a bigger battery life for internet use only)

    3. No bluetooth - Are you stupid not having bluetooth is that most ridiculous thing I've heard and it should be a standard free phones from wireless companies come with bluetooth. If they took off bluetooth you would still have a 500.00 phone without bluetooth now that would be damn dumb.. USB bluetooth adapters are what a whooping 40.00 (that will save us a load THANKS!) Also bluetooth is already a standard and should be seeing how many US states are passing hands free driving laws.

    3. No camera - ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!! (why dont you just take a shit without toilet paper) Cell phones have cameras, cell phones have bluetooth get over it!

    4. Dont have widescreen - "how often with people use landscape", Uhh well actually the sidekick 2 & 3 are very popular phones and hey what do you know they're landscapes phones! (also you'd be amazed at what features you would use if you had them available)

    5. Stop bitching intell you use the phone, and if your gonna bitch this much why even run a site talking about the iphone in the first place. You know you will be first in line waiting like everyone else. If you dont like the features, dont like the price, dont like anything. Then talk about something else.

I support Iphone and love every feature that apple has thought of.Dont complain in less you have used it!!!

  2. I would think Apple would want to make the phone affordable. These are just suggested changes, maybe some of them can't be made, although I disagree with your arguments on all except for #2. It is surprising the iPhone's battery lasts so long on wifi (or were the tests done with Edge instead?).

Also, I love the idea of the iPhone too, but just like you, I haven't touched one yet either, so I'll reserve judgement.
